Hand-painted Halloween coasters
Our Halloween coasters are wooden drink coasters painted by hand in our Hamburg studio. The set of four holds a different scene on each piece — a ghost with a pumpkin, a bat against a moonlit sky, a black cat and a spider on its web — worked in the orange and purple of the season. Each coaster is 10 cm across, painted with acrylics on natural wood and sealed for everyday use, from €44.99 a set, and ships worldwide from Germany through our Etsy shop.
Seasonal decoration is usually printed, bought once and thrown away. These are painted one at a time and built to survive the party: the seal takes the ring of a cold drink and the heat of a mug, so the set comes back out of the cupboard every October instead of going in the bin every November.
The four designs
- Ghost & pumpkin
- A round-eyed ghost drifting over a carved pumpkin, painted on a warm orange ground.
- Bat
- A single bat crossing a full moon, with the sky worked up in layers of deep purple.
- Black cat
- A black cat with its back arched, outlined against the orange of a late-October evening.
- Spider & web
- A small spider on a web, the strands drawn in with a fine brush over the wood grain.

How the set is made
The blanks are natural wood, sanded and sealed before anything is drawn on them. Each design is sketched in pencil, blocked in with acrylic, then finished with the details that carry it — the highlight in the ghost's eye, the thin strands of the web, the moon behind the bat. A protective finish goes on last and needs a day to cure. Four coasters take an evening, which is why a set is a set and not a batch.

- What are hand-painted Halloween coasters?
- They are drink coasters cut from natural wood and painted individually by hand with acrylics, then sealed. Our Halloween set has four designs — a ghost with a pumpkin, a bat crossing a moonlit sky, a black cat and a spider on its web — in the orange and purple palette of the season. Because each one is painted rather than printed, no two sets are identical.
- How big are the coasters?
- Each coaster is 10 cm (3.94 inches) in diameter, which takes a mug, a tumbler or a wine glass. The set of four arrives packed together and ready to give.
- Are they printed or painted?
- Painted. Every ghost, bat, cat and spider is applied by hand with a brush; nothing is printed, transferred or laser-engraved. Small differences in brushwork between sets are the mark of that, not a fault.
- Can they be washed in the dishwasher?
- No. Soaking above 60 °C softens the seal and swells the wood, which lifts the paint at the edges. Wipe them with a damp cloth and dry them straight away, and a set stays vivid for years.
- When should I order to have them by Halloween?
- Each set is painted to order in Hamburg, so allow a week or two before 31 October. Etsy shows the exact delivery estimate for your country at checkout; shipping within Germany and the EU is currently free.
- Do you sell them as a Halloween gift?
- Yes — it is what most sets are bought for. They are small, light, breakage-proof in the post and cost far less than a decorative piece of the same size, so they work as a host gift for a Halloween party or as a seasonal decoration that gets used rather than stored.
